Some shaking up is in the mix. After a fun weekend of XC racing, the pt leader on both the XC (Total pts) and TWW XC Cup is:

Brenton Hamilton

He scared his field so much at Billy Cross that no one over 30 wanted to take him on, so he had to race with the 20 year olds. What happened? He intimidated his competion so much that they crashed infront of him as he put the pressure on. Come out if you dare to try and dethrone Brenton.

The big question is, Will John Street continue to race? He is a mere 7 pts behind Brenton in the TWW XC Cup. Can he overcome his demons at Skyline? We shall see.

Next TWW XC Cup race: Skyline Park (Napa), June 9. See you out there!

The TWW Scoring System

Scoring System

The XC point system aims to reward racers for the percentage of opponents they beat in their race. If you beat 50% of the field in your race, you'll receive about 50 points. Simple, huh?

Mathematically, where R is your rank, f is field size, and p is your placing in the race:

R = (f - p) / f
Points = 5 + (100 x R)

5 points are awarded for finishing. Bonus points are awarded for placing 1st-5th based in the calculated rank.

1st - 30xR
2nd - 25xR
3rd - 20xR
4th - 15xR
5th - 10xR

Another thing to consider is the occasional instance when someone races out of their category. In these cases, we'll multiply their total points from the race by a given factor:

Beg racing in Sport - factor is 1.5.
Sport racing in Expert - 2.0
Racing same category of geared racers on a SS - 1.5
Sport racing in only SS class - 1.75
Sport racing in Sport/Beg SS class - 1.0
Beg racing in Sport/Beg SS class - 1.5

Your category (Beg-Expert) is determined by your NORBA (or whatever) designation on your license.

There might be other circumstances that will require an adjustment. We can come up with something when the need arises.

Scores will be rounded to nearest point. We'll guarantee that people finishing the same race will be separated by at least 1 point (no tie scores).

Leaderboards

We'll maintain male/female leaderboards only for two separate point series, the TWW Cup and the TWW Season Rankings.

The TWW Cup will track the scores for the designated TWW "team" races only, like in the past.

The TWW Rankings will track all your XC races throughout the season. All XC races count, including the races in the TWW Cup. For relay teams, your team placing determines your points. Same system. You have to run your share of laps, though.

Anyone racing in a TWW jersey or one of our sponsors can be in the "system" if they want. We'll put it up on the web site.

Please, no sandbagging. You can transfer Beginner points to Sport if you want to upgrade midseason.
