GENERAL INFORMATION
(Read this page thoroughly - it has very important info!!!)
Schedule/Practice
Race Day is Sunday, April 14. You must be registered to practice both Saturday and the day of the race!!! Practice is permitted the day of the race from 8am-10am and 11am-3pm on Saturday. (Note that Carnegie is open all year - so you can practice there anytime at your own risk - the course will not be clearly marked until race weekend and the area will not be protected from motorcycles (again until race weekend), but at least you'll get an idea of the terrain - the course is located at the far west end of the park near the fence line - if you're at the MX track, you're at the wrong end dummy). Races will start promptly at 11am. Please be off the course by 10am. We will sweep the course from 10am-11am to ensure all markings are in place and that no one has "gone astray" in practice.
Registration

Don't have Adobe Acrobat? Well you should. Click on the "Get Acrobat Reader" button below to get it for free!
Upon receipt of your registration, you will be assigned a number and start time.
Entry forms must be received by April 9. Make sure you allow enough time for the postal system to do its thing. Don't mail it on 4/8 and expect it to be to us in time.
There will be NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION!!! Otherwise, you can register at the race course on Saturday, April 13 from 11am-1pm. $10 additional fee for registering that day. If the race is sold out by the April 9 deadline, there will be no Saturday registration. We'll post it here if we meet the maximum rider limit.
When you check in to get your racer's packet the day of the race, your start time will be written on your number. DO NOT MISS YOUR START TIME!!! Otherwise we will have to DQ you. Sorry, no exceptions (unless you introduce us to your good friend, Mr. Benjamin Franklin, nudge, nudge, wink, wink). You will be able to check in from 7am-10am the day of the race.
Entry Fees
Entry is $25. No lame T-shirt with entry. Please note that part of the proceeds goes back to Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation Area. The remainder goes into our greedy little hands (well, with the exception of insurance, ambulance, timing, materials, awards, merchandise, misc. - are we making any money on this?) Also note that there is a separate $4 entry fee to get into CSVRA. Save some money and carpool!
200 Rider Field Limit!!! Register early to guarantee a spot. We expect to fill out our field this year, seeing that this is the only DH race in the Bay Area in 2002 (at least that we know of). Please note that this race is not sanctioned by NORBA, USCF, NCNCA, AAA, AA, yadda, yadda, yadda. You don't need no stinkin' licenses to race here. Instead of charging you to have a license, we simply ask that you be honest with your category (if you're not, we'll take care of you anyway). We will be utilizing NORBA rules though. Be familiar with your competition guide, okay?
Course Description

Click the image above for a map of the course!
This is not a World Cup course. No 10' drops (just maybe some six footers - kidding) or huge doubles. However, it will be challenging to all skill levels, with a significant amount of singletrack, rocky sections, with some jumps, super steep "butt puckering" sections (for some people that is), and a major G-out section that will test the finest suspension. 1,000'+/- elevation loss with NO uphill sections, finishing right near the parking area. Fastest times are expected in the sub 3-minute range. This is a pretty darn steep and fast course. We promise good course markings (no tape on a tree branch 6' off the ground). You will not go the "wrong way". And, this is a totally spectator friendly course - bring your cameras and cow bells!

Shuttle!!!
We will have a shuttle (stakebed truck) to the top of the hill for both practice and race day. Yahoo! No lovely scenic hike unless you want one. Shuttle rides will cost just $1 for all day on the practice day and will be FREE the day of the race. For you cheaper and/or more fit riders, the hike will take you 30-45 minutes to get to the top (depending on your fitness level).
Directions
From the Bay Area: Get to the 580/680 interchange. From there take the I-580 and go East to Greeneville Road exit. Take Greeneville Road exit. Turn left at stop sign. Then turn right on Greeneville Road. Follow past Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). Turn left on Tesla Road. Follow until you see CSVRA on the right. Should take about 30 minutes from the 580/680 interchange (at reasonable speeds).
Alternate route from the South Bay: take I-680 north. Exit on Highway 84 to Livermore. DO NOT TAKE CALAVERAS AVENUE - THAT WILL TAKE YOU THE WRONG WAY!! 84 turns into Vallecitos Road. Then veer left on Holmes Street (you should be in a residential area at this point). Make a slight right on 4th Street. Then make a slight right on College. Follow College until you hit S. Livermore Ave. Turn right onto S. Livermore Ave. S. Livermore Ave. becomes Tesla Road. Follow Tesla across Greeneville Road to the park. Not sure if this route is faster, but it is more direct for you South Bay folks.
From Southern Calfornia: Interstate 5 North to 580 (San Fran). Take Corral Hollow exit West 6 miles to park.

Misc.
Rain does not cancel the event (unless for some reason they close the park). If you're the protesting type, stay at home. Our intention for putting on this race is for everyone to have fun. You can expect a low-key, festive atmosphere. We'll be playing music, taking photos (and some video), and having fun!!! Please as always, bring your sense of humor, because without it, what's the point?!
