Trailwork at Skeggs

Saturday November 17, 2001

A total of 17 TWW'ers, too many to list or remember showed on Saturday for a day of trailwork. A good part of them Tuesday Night Pen riders, did I twist your arm that hard?

Grant Kern and Mike from Mid Pen were leading the way. They gave us a quick rundown on issues regarding the preserve and even gave us handouts on building rock waterbars.

We worked on the North Leaf trail which was built by ROMP and has been open for a couple years since. It was apparent they knew what they were doing since only minor treadwork needed to be done and a 5 or 6 of the new rock waterbars needed to be installed. The conditions for trailwork was great, cool weather and soft dirt from the recent rains made quick work for digging and carrying big boulders.

There was a group ride before the trailwork and after the work to check out the newly groomed trail.

The best picture goes to Dave Longinotti where he climbs up a 7 foot boulder and starts hacking away with a pick axe trying to make smaller rocks, I think he was remembering the days in maximum security.

Trailwork participants include Loren, Nick, Dave Longinotti, Jeff Hane, Dave McCrimmon, Robert Ouye, Chris Lindsay-Smith, Dave Supan, Ken?, Mark Ong, Bob Pinotti, Rita Ogden, John Weathers, Brian Rogers, Eric Vennemeyer, Peter Schwartz, Joseph Lee, Jim Delasandro and Erik Johnson.

Great job guys and gal(Rita). You guys did a great job!!
